The disappearance forty years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden, gnaws at her octogenarian uncle, Henrik Vanger. He is determined to know the truth about what he believes was her murder. He hires crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist, recently at the wrong end of a libel case, to get to the bottom of Harriet's disappearance. Lisbeth Salander, a twenty-four-year-old, pierced, tattooed genius hacker, possessed of the hard-earned wisdom of someone twice her age -- and a terrifying capacity for ruthlessness -- assists Blomkvist with the investigation. This unlikely team discovers a vein of nearly unfathomable iniquity running through the Vanger family, an astonishing corruption at the highest echelon of Swedish industrialism -- and a surprising connection between themselves.--From publisher description.

Rezension von NayeliLarsson’s Millenium trilogy is almost a classic of the suspense books of the last years. I had not read any of them and now that I did I understand why it has gotten such success. I liked the story and kept me I gave. Very easy to read and show the complexity of human relationships. At moment he’s a little preachy but not enough to ruin the book. Definitely I’ll read the next books in the saga.
Rezension von Carlos R. DiazThis is one of the best modern-day mysteries I've ever read. Reg Keeland's translation of Stieg Larsson's gritty crime drama masterpiece is nothing short of amazing literature that transcends its genre and becomes a piece of narrative that any reader can devour. It is the first part of a trilogy that tells the tale of a super hacker named Lisbeth Salander, she's the most bad-ass protagonists in recent literature, who helps a disgraced former journalist solve a decade's old crime bedeviling one of the wealthiest family in Sweden. This book is just so much fun. That is all.
Rezension von NehaSo slow in the beginning and end but middle was amazing couldn't put it down. Loved the end. I only give it 3 stars since the middle was so amazing. Definitely don't have any desire to read the other books tho.
