Rezension von LillyMir hat die Geschichte gut gefallen. Es war mal was anderes und man hatte das Gefühl die Karriere mitzuverfolgen. Ich hatte irgendwann das Gefühl, dass die Geschichte schon früher hätte zu Ende sein können. Aber dann hat mich der letzte Teil doch noch gefesselt.

Rezension von Lea-SophieWer viel Drama, Lügen, Intrigen und Verrat liebt, kommt in „The Favourites“ von Layne Fargo definitiv auf seine Kosten. „The Favourites“ handelt von den beiden Protagonisten Katharina Shaw und Heath Rocha, die professionelle Eiskunstläufer sind und als Paar gemeinsam bei Wettkämpfen antreten. Sie kennen sich seit ihrer Kindheit, haben viel zusammen trainiert, um zu den Besten der Welt zu zählen und sind auch im „echten“ Leben ein Paar. Zu Beginn des Buches wird ihr Erfolg immer größer, sodass sie ins Zentrum der medialen Aufmerksamkeit geraten. Mit dem wachsenden Erfolg steigt allerdings auch die Konkurrenz mit anderen Tanzpaaren, es gibt viele Neider und viel Missgunst, wodurch sich der ein oder andere Skandal anbahnt… Mir hat das Buch sehr gut gefallen. Durch den Interview-Style am Ende einiger Kapitel wirkt die Geschichte noch realer und man hat den Eindruck, dass es sich bei den Charakteren um wirkliche Athleten handelt. Die Geschichte ist super fast-paced, es gibt unglaublich viele Plot Twists mit denen man nicht rechnet und bei den Wettkämpfen fiebert man richtig mit. Gerade die Rivalitäten mit den anderen Athleten fand ich besonders spannend. Ein weiterer Punkt, der mir besonders gut gefallen hat, war die Tatsache, dass man als Leser:in nicht weiß, wohin sich die Geschichte entwickelt. Es gibt Momente in diesem Buch, in denen sich die Geschichte in alle Richtungen entwickeln kann und alles offen ist. Das macht die Story besonders unvorhersehbar und hat mir sehr gefallen. Alles in allem würde ich „The Favourites“ jederzeit weiterempfehlen.
