Einfach nur toll geschrieben. Eine bewegende Familiengeschichte.
Das Buch hat hohe Höhen und sehr tiefe Tiefen beim lesen erzeugt. Wow! Am Schluss hat es sich etwas gezogen…
Eine zauberhafte Geschichte über einen besonderen Jungen.
A book full of joy and hope The story is entertaining and at the same time deeply touching. It tells the life of the Morales family, their foundling Simonopio (whom they love like their own child) and his bees. "As the Mexican Revolution rages and the Spanish flu hits the region, [Simonopio] saves the family from harm more than once with his gift." Most of the village got used to the boy after a short time, but not everyone means well with him and the family... The story is told from multiple perspectives, which can be a bit confusing at first. But as the story progresses, it becomes clear from which perspective and from which time the story is told. You can put yourself in the shoes of many of the sensitively described characters and want to know how it ends for them in the end. You just have to love Simonopio and his bees in particular. As well as little Francisco, who looks up to his "big brother". For me, this book was a real highlight. I either had a smile on my face or a tear in my eye when I read it. The book is a great pleasure to read thanks to the beautiful style of writing and the vivid language. It is "a novel of magic and the scent of honey [and oranges] exudes" girlfriend. An absolute reading highlight!
The way Sofía Segovia describes the characters and village life in the beginning... how many lines I underlined in the book because the words/sentences are way too poetic to just let them stand there. Unique. Different and beautiful.
