Zora Neale Hurston

Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960) was an African American writer from the United States and a central figure of the Harlem Renaissance. She published her first texts in New York during the 1920s. She is best known for the novel *Their Eyes Were Watching God*, published in 1937. Hurston traveled through the American South and the Caribbean, collecting stories, folktales, songs, dances, prayers, and rituals.
