Alice Walker

Alice Walker, born in 1944 in Eatonton, Georgia, is an American author. Her best-known novel, *The Color Purple* (1982), received the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. Steven Spielberg adapted the novel for film, starring Whoopi Goldberg.
