Yu Hua

Yu Hua, born in 1960 in China’s eastern Zhejiang province, is a Chinese author. He grew up during the Cultural Revolution and worked as a dentist for five years before becoming a writer. His first novel, Cries in the Drizzle, brought him recognition in China. His notable works include To Live, The Man Who Sold His Blood, Brothers, China in Ten Words, and The Seventh Day. The novel To Live was adapted for film by Zhang Yimou.
