Xiaolong Qiu

Qiu Xiaolong was born in Shanghai in 1953. He worked as a translator and published poetry and literary criticism. He went to the United States in 1988 and did not return to China after the Tiananmen Square massacre. From 1994, he taught Chinese language and literature at Washington University in St. Louis. He is known for his crime novels featuring Chief Inspector Chen, including "Blut und rote Seide," "Tödliches Wasser," "99 Särge," and "Schakale in Shanghai."
