Xenophon

Xenophon (c. 430 BC–after 355 BC) was a Greek philosopher, soldier, and historian. Born to wealthy parents, he took part in the March of the Ten Thousand in 401 BC and later joined the Spartan army. In return for his service, he received an estate near Olympia in the early 380s BC. After Sparta’s defeat at Leuctra, he fled with his family to Corinth in 371 BC. As a writer, he produced a varied body of work marked by a moderate and rational outlook.
