Wsewolod Petrow

Wsevolod Petrov (1912–1978) was a Russian art historian and writer. Before the Second World War, he worked at the Russian Museum in Leningrad; after serving as an officer in the Red Army, he returned to the study of art history. He published works on Russian art and was regarded as an important figure in Leningrad’s unofficial cultural scene. His 1946 novella The Manon Lescaut of Turdey was published posthumously in 2006 in the journal Novy Mir. The German translation by Daniel Jurjew received the 2013 Hotlist Prize, awarded by independent German-language publishers.
