Wolfram Wette

Wolfram Wette (born 1940) is a German historian. He studied political science, history and philosophy, received his doctorate in Munich in 1971, and completed his habilitation in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1991. From 1971 to 1995, he worked at the Military History Research Office in Freiburg. Wette was a co-founder of the Working Group for Historical Peace Research and held an adjunct professorship in modern history at the University of Freiburg. He was also named an honorary professor of Lipetsk State University. His research focused on militarism and pacifism, the Second World War, the Wehrmacht, rescue resistance and German memory culture. His notable works include “The Wehrmacht,” “Militarism in Germany” and “Filbinger – A German Career.”
