Wolfgang Picken

Wolfgang Picken (1967–2024) was a Catholic priest and a political scientist with a doctorate. He studied Catholic theology, philosophy, political science and social sciences, and received additional training in end-of-life and bereavement support. He was ordained a priest in 1993, became senior pastor in the Bad Godesberg pastoral area in 2013 and served as city dean of Bonn from 2018. In 2001, he founded the first “Integrated Hospice,” followed by two more. The facilities received the Altenheim Zukunftspreis award in 2009. Picken was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2019.
