Winfried Glatzeder

Winfried Glatzeder was born in 1945 in Zoppot near Danzig and grew up in Berlin. He studied acting at the German Academy of Film in Potsdam-Babelsberg and became known as an actor in DEFA productions. From 1971 to 1982, he was a member of the ensemble at Berlin’s Volksbühne theatre. In 1982, he moved to West Berlin and subsequently worked in theatre and television. He is known to a broad television audience, among other roles, as Tatort detective Ernst Roiter.
