Winfried Dolderer is a historian and journalist. He studied history, German studies and art history in Mainz and Leuven, and received his doctorate in 1989 for a dissertation on German-Flemish relations from 1890 to 1920. From 1990 to 1997, he worked as a political correspondent for the Brussels-based newspaper De Standaard.
