Wieland Freund

Wieland Freund was born in 1969 and studied German and English literature. He worked as a journalist, author and translator, writing mainly fantasy novels and books for children. His best-known works include The Unlikely Journey of Jonas Nothing, Krakonos, Never Wake a Schrat! and the Törtel series. Krakonos won the Rattenfänger Literature Prize and was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize. His novel Dreizehnfurcht was shortlisted for the Wetzlar Phantastikpreis. In collaboration with Michael Ende’s estate, Freund completed Ende’s fragment Rodrigo Raubein and Knirps, His Squire.
