Wendelin Schmidt Dengler

Wendelin Schmidt-Dengler was born in Zagreb in 1942 and studied Classical Philology and German Studies in Vienna. He completed his habilitation in 1974. He was Professor of Modern German Literature at the University of Vienna and head of the Austrian Literature Archive. As an editor, he worked on the writings of Heimito von Doderer and Fritz von Herzmansovsky-Orlando, among others. His publications include *Der Übertreibungskünstler. Studien zu Thomas Bernhard* (1986) and *Bruchlinien. Vorlesungen zur österreichischen Literatur 1945 bis 1990* (1998).
