Volter Kilpi

Volter Kilpi (1874–1939) was a Finnish writer and librarian. He was born in Kustavi in southwestern Finland, the son of a sea captain, and studied in Helsinki. After gaining early recognition with three novels in the Symbolist style, he published no further works for almost 30 years. He later became known for a trilogy about his home region. Its central novel, »In the Hall of Alastalo«, was published in 1933. Kilpi died in Turku.
