Stefan Moster, born in Mainz in 1964, is a writer and translator from Finnish. His debut novel, »Die Unmöglichkeit des vierhändigen Spiels«, was published in 2009, followed by works including »Lieben sich zwei«, »Die Frau des Botschafters«, »Neringa«, »Alleingang« and »Bin das noch ich«. Among the Finnish authors he has translated into German are Volter Kilpi, Petri Tamminen, Rosa Liksom, Selja Ahava and Daniel Katz. His translation work received the Helmut M. Braem Translator’s Prize and the Jane Scatcherd Prize in 2022, and the Johann Heinrich Voß Prize for Translation in 2025. In 2024, he received the International Literature Award. He also wrote the libretto for the opera »Galen. Der Kardinal«, premiered in 2022.
