Volker Frederking

Volker Frederking studied German, philosophy and history for secondary-school teaching at the universities of Münster and Bielefeld. He passed his first and second state examinations in 1988 and 1992 and received his doctorate in 1992. He subsequently worked as a secondary-school teacher in Gütersloh, a lecturer at Bielefeld University, and an academic councillor and university lecturer at the teacher-training universities in Heidelberg and Freiburg. In 2000, he took up a professorship in the didactics of German language and literature at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. His research focuses include the teaching of literature and media, aesthetic education, and empirical research into competence and teaching.
