Volker Benkert

Volker Benkert, born in 1971, studied English, history and Russian in Marburg, Edinburgh, St Petersburg and Bonn. He received his doctorate from the University of Potsdam and worked from 2007 as a lecturer and assistant professor at Arizona State University, where he taught modern German and European history. In 2015, he was a visiting fellow at the Academy for Civic Education in Tutzing, Germany. His research has focused on the effects of regime changes on biographies and the representation of the Nazi past in German film.
