Ulrich Michels

Ulrich Michels, born in 1938, studied music, musicology, and German studies and earned his doctorate in Freiburg im Breisgau. From 1972 to 2008, he taught at the State University of Music and at the University of Karlsruhe. From 1976 onward, he played in the Karlsruhe Piano Trio. His musicological publications included studies of the medieval Ars nova, Monteverdi’s “Lamento d’Arianna,” Handel’s operatic works, and Alban Berg.
