Ullrich Mies

Ullrich Mies, born in 1951, studied social sciences and international politics in Duisburg and Kingston, Jamaica. As a conscientious objector, he became interested in critical peace research during his studies. From 1984 to 1994, he worked in the senior civil service of a German federal agency; he subsequently worked as a self-employed entrepreneur in the Netherlands. From 2000 to 2009, he was involved with Attac and later with the anti-war movement. Mies was co-editor and author of “Fassadendemokratie und Tiefer Staat” (2017) and editor and author of its follow-up volume, “Der Tiefe Staat schlägt zu” (2019).
