Ulf Fildebrandt was born in Stadthagen in 1972. As a teenager, he began programming computers and reading science fiction; he took up writing a few years later. He studied computer science at the University of Hildesheim and subsequently spent around two decades working as a software developer for a major German software company. He returned to writing speculative fiction through books and articles on software development. His novel “Dunkelwärts” was published in 2014, followed by novels in the Weltenkreis fantasy series and short stories, including contributions to c’t and EXODUS.
