Udo Rauchfleisch is a Swiss author and psychologist from Basel. He served as professor emeritus of clinical psychology at the University of Basel and worked as a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist in private practice. His academic interests included personality disorders, psychosocial work in counseling, therapy and pastoral care, as well as gender identities and sexual orientations. He published numerous nonfiction books, including “Transgender verstehen” and “Narzissten sind auch nur Menschen.” In 2017, Rauchfleisch began writing crime novels set in Basel’s gay community. His crime series featuring Jürgen Schneider, a gay detective from Basel, includes titles such as “Der Tod der Medea,” “Mord unter lauter netten Leuten,” and “Schwarz ist der Tod.” His fiction addresses social issues including homophobia, transphobia, racism, and racial profiling.
