Tony Blair (born 1953 in Edinburgh) is a British politician. He studied law at Oxford and joined the Labour Party in 1975. He entered the British House of Commons in 1983 and became leader of the Labour Party in 1994. Following the party’s election victory in 1997, Blair became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and remained in office until 2007. A significant event during his tenure was the signing of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, which contributed to the resolution of the conflict in Northern Ireland.
