Tobias Scheffel

Tobias Scheffel, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1964, is a German literary translator from French. He studied Romance languages and literature, history and geography in Tübingen, Tours and Freiburg, and began working as a translator in 1992. Among the authors whose works he has translated are Robert Bober, Georges Perec, Fred Vargas, Christophe Boltanski, Pierre Lemaitre and Timothée de Fombelle. In 2005 he received the Eugen Helmlé Translation Prize. In 2011, his body of work was honored with the Special Prize of the German Youth Literature Award.
