Titus Burckhardt

Titus Burckhardt (1908–1984) was born in Florence, the son of sculptor Carl Burckhardt. He studied art history and Oriental studies and worked as a translator, draughtsman, and writer. In 1972, UNESCO commissioned him to help preserve the cityscape of Fès.
