Tina Makereti

Tina Makereti is a New Zealand writer who has taught creative writing and English at Massey University and Victoria University in New Zealand. She has Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Āti Awa, Ngāti Maniapoto and Pākehā heritage. Her short stories have received several awards: “Once Upon a Time in Aotearoa” won the Ngā Kupu Ora Te Pakimaero/Fiction Book Award in 2011, and “Black Milk” won the Pacific Regional Commonwealth Short Story Prize in 2016. Her first novel, “In der Tiefe der Wurzeln beginnt ein Singen,” was longlisted for the Dublin Literary Prize in 2016.
