Thomas Hofmann

Thomas Hofmann (born 1964 in Vienna) studied earth sciences at the University of Vienna, graduating with an Mag. rer. nat. degree. From 1991 onward, he worked at the Geological Survey of Austria, where he headed the library, publishing and archive departments from 2008. He published numerous books and other works on scientific and cultural-historical subjects, with a regional focus on Vienna and Lower Austria, including the Es geschah im Weinviertel series. In 2022, he received the Lower Austrian Culture Prize’s Award of Recognition for adult education. He spent his childhood and youth in Vienna and the Weinviertel region.
