Thomas Hitzlsperger, born in 1982 in Munich, is a former German footballer. With VfB Stuttgart, he won the German Bundesliga title in the 2006–07 season. As a member of the German national team, he finished third at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and was a European Championship runner-up in 2008. After his playing career, Hitzlsperger worked as a club executive at VfB Stuttgart and as a sports journalist, including for ZDF and Die Zeit. He also campaigned against racism and xenophobia.
