Thomas Browne

Sir Thomas Browne (1605–1682) was an English physician and polymath. He studied medicine in Oxford, Padua, and Leiden. In his writings, he combined philosophical questions with close attention to the natural sciences. His works are regarded as classics of English-language literature and influenced, among others, Edgar Allan Poe, Virginia Woolf, and W. G. Sebald.
