Theodor W Adorno

Theodor W. Adorno (1903–1969) was a German philosopher, sociologist, music theorist, and composer. He studied philosophy, sociology, psychology, and musicology in Frankfurt and taught there before 1933 and after returning from American exile. A leading representative of Critical Theory, he was associated with the Frankfurt School. From 1958, he jointly directed the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research with Max Horkheimer. His best-known works include the co-authored »Dialectic of Enlightenment«, »Minima Moralia«, and »Philosophy of New Music«. Adorno also studied composition during his school years.
