Tessa Hadley

Tessa Hadley, born in Bristol in 1956, is a British writer. Before turning to writing, she worked briefly as a teacher. She later studied creative writing in Bath and completed a doctorate on Henry James. She published her first novel at the age of 46. Her novels and short stories frequently explore family life and social relationships. Her work has received numerous awards, and in 2009 she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
