Terry Brooks

Terry Brooks was born in Illinois, USA, in 1944. Before becoming known as a writer, he worked as a lawyer. His first novel, *The Sword of Shannara*, was published in 1977, reached the bestseller lists, and launched the extensive Shannara series. Brooks was an enthusiastic Tolkien reader; more than twenty volumes of the series have been published.
