T. C. Boyle, born Thomas John Boyle in 1948 in Peekskill, New York, is an American author. He studied English and history at the State University of New York and earned a doctorate in nineteenth-century English literature from the University of Iowa in 1977. Before pursuing an academic career, he taught at a high school; until 2012, he taught creative writing at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Boyle has published numerous novels and short-story collections, including World’s End, The Tortilla Curtain, San Miguel, The Light, and Blue Skies. He received the PEN/Faulkner Award for World’s End.
