Swetlana Alexijewitsch

Svetlana Alexievich, born in Ukraine in 1948 and raised in Belarus, initially worked as a reporter. The interviews she conducted in that role led her to develop the literary form of the documentary “novel in voices.” Her works have been translated into more than 30 languages. She received, among other honors, the Leipzig Book Fair Prize for European Understanding and the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade. In 2015, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
