Sven Beckert

Born in Frankfurt, Sven Beckert studied history, sociology and political science at the University of Hamburg and Columbia University in New York. He became a professor of American history at Harvard University. He was a Guggenheim Fellow in 2011 and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2022. His book “King Cotton” (2014) received the Bancroft Prize.
