Susi Weigel

Susi Weigel (1914–1990) studied at the University of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She subsequently worked as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines and as an animation artist, including for a time in Berlin. After the Second World War, she returned to Austria. She had a decades-long collaboration with children’s author Mira Lobe and illustrated numerous of her books. Weigel received, among other honors, the Illustration Prize of the City of Vienna and the Austrian Children’s and Young People’s Book Prize. She died in Bludenz in 1990.
