Steven Levitsky

Steven Levitsky is a political scientist who held professorships in Latin American studies and government at Harvard University. His research focuses on political parties, democracies and autocracies, and the role of informal institutions, particularly in South America. With Daniel Ziblatt, he co-authored the bestseller *How Democracies Die* (2018), which was translated into more than thirty languages and received the NDR Kultur Sachbuchpreis as the best nonfiction book of the year. Their book *The Tyranny of the Minority* was published by DVA in 2024 and became a New York Times bestseller in the United States.
