Steven Herrick

Steven Herrick, born in 1958 in Brisbane, is an Australian writer. He studied poetry at the University of Queensland, where he completed his degree. From the 1990s onward, he published mainly for children and young adults; his notable works include *The Simple Gift*. His writing has received numerous awards. Herrick was the youngest of seven children. After leaving high school, he worked in a series of casual jobs before later completing his secondary education.
