Stefan Schomann

Stefan Schomann (born 1962 in Munich) studied German literature in Munich and Berlin. From 1988 onward, he worked as a freelance author and journalist. His reportage, essays, portraits and feuilletons appeared in publications including GEO, Die Zeit, the Frankfurter Rundschau and Stern. His books deal with China, the history of the Red Cross and travel on horseback. His works include »Letzte Zuflucht Shanghai« (2008), a story about the relationship between a Viennese Jewish man and a Chinese Christian woman. Schomann received the »Eiserner Gustav« award for his contribution to travel culture on horseback. He was also appointed a cultural ambassador of Chinese storytellers and made an honorary citizen of the village of Ma Jie in Henan.
