Stefan Rieger

Stefan Rieger (born 1963) studied German and philosophy. He worked in the Collaborative Research Centre “Literature and Anthropology” in Konstanz and received a Heisenberg Fellowship from the German Research Foundation. In 2007, he took up a professorship in media history and communication theory at Ruhr University Bochum. Rieger received his doctorate for a study of data processing and mnemonics in the Baroque period and completed his habilitation on the relationship between media and anthropology. His work focuses on the history of science, media theory, and cultural techniques. His publications include *Die Individualität der Medien*, *Die Ästhetik des Menschen*, and *Kybernetische Anthropologie*; he co-authored *Vom Übertier* with Benjamin Bühler.
