Stefan Fricke

Stefan Fricke (born 1966 in Unna, Westphalia) studied musicology and German literature at Saarland University in Saarbrücken after completing his civilian service. In 1989, he co-founded Pfau-Verlag, a publishing house specializing in literature on contemporary music. He has published extensively on new music and Fluxus and was a lecturer on several occasions at the Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music. Fricke worked as an editor responsible for new music, jazz and sound art at Hessischer Rundfunk and taught as an honorary professor at the Mainz School of Music. In 2021, he and Alper Maral created the permanent sound installation “Am Grabe | Aus der Ferne” for the Donaueschingen Festival. He also served as co-editor of the journal MusikTexte.
