Sonia Levitin

Sonia Levitin was born in Berlin and emigrated with her family from Nazi Germany to the United States at the age of four. She first worked as a high-school and adult-education teacher before turning to writing through journalism. In 1989, she received the Catholic Children’s Book Award of the German Bishops’ Conference for her young-adult novel »Heimkehr nach Jerusalem«, which tells the story of two Jewish children fleeing Ethiopia.
