Simon Singh (born 1964 in Wellington, Somerset) is a British physicist and science journalist. He studied physics at Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge, where he earned a PhD in particle physics. From 1990 to 1997, he worked as a producer for the BBC. In 1996, he received a British Academy Award for his documentary “Fermat’s Last Theorem.” He developed the subject further in his first book, “Fermat’s Last Theorem” (1997). His other nonfiction books include “The Code Book” (1999) and “Big Bang” (2004), which received the American Institute of Physics’ Science Writing Award in 2006.
