Simon Sebag Montefiore, born in 1965, is a British historian and journalist. He studied history at the University of Cambridge, where he also earned a doctorate in philosophy. His best-known works include “Stalin: Court of the Red Tsar,” “Young Stalin,” “Jerusalem: The Biography,” “The Romanovs” and “The World: A Family History of Humanity.” “Stalin: Court of the Red Tsar” received the History Book of the Year Prize at the British Book Awards. “Young Stalin” won, among other honors, the Costa Biography Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Award for Biography and the Bruno Kreisky Prize for Political Literature. He has also published the novels “Sashenka” and “One Night in Winter.”
