Silv Bannenberg grew up on a remote farm. Bannenberg studied Romance languages and literature, German studies, and gender studies in Marburg and Strasbourg, and subsequently worked as a teacher of German as a foreign language in Brittany. Bannenberg translated comics and graphic novels from French into German, including works by Pénélope Bagieu, Lucie Bryon, Magali Le Huche, Max de Radiguès, and Zelba, as well as several nonfiction books for children.
