Siegfried Zielinski

Siegfried Zielinski is a German media scholar and a pioneer of media archaeology. He was the founding rector and first rector of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (1994–2000) and rector of the State University of Design Karlsruhe (2016–2018). Until 2016, he directed the International Vilém Flusser Archive in Berlin. Among his best-known publications is “Archäologie der Medien” (2002), published in English as “Deep Time of the Media” (2006) and translated into numerous languages. Together with Peter Weibel, Zielinski curated and produced exhibitions including “Allah’s Automata” (2015) and “Dia-Logos – Ramon Llull und die Ars Combinatoria” (2018).
