Sheila Heti, born in Toronto in 1976, is a Canadian author. Her best-known works include the novel “How Should a Person Be?” (2014), “Motherhood” (2019), and “Pure Colour.” With Leanne Shapton and Heidi Julavits, she co-authored “Women in Clothes” (2015), a book combining texts, images, and interviews. Heti has written for publications including The New Yorker and The New York Times and has also worked in drama and stage performance. She received Canada’s Governor General’s Literary Award in 2022 for “Pure Colour.”
