Seweryna Szmaglewska (1916–1992) was a Polish writer. She attended a teacher-training seminary and studied sociology in Warsaw until the outbreak of the Second World War. From 1942 to 1945, she was imprisoned in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. She recounted her experiences in the book *The Women of Birkenau*. In 1946, she testified as one of two Polish witnesses at the Nuremberg trial of the major war criminals. After the war, she worked as a writer in Poland.
