Marta Kijowska

Marta Kijowska (born 1955 in Kraków) studied German studies in Kraków and Munich. She worked as a journalist, writer and nonfiction author, contributing to newspapers, radio, television, encyclopedias and essay collections, primarily on Polish culture, literature and history. She also translated from Polish, including works by Stefan Chwin, Sławomir Mrożek, Maria Nurowska and Seweryna Szmaglewska. Her translations received the Austrian Youth Book Translation Prize. Her books include “Kurier der Erinnerung. Das Leben des Jan Karski” (2014), “Was ist mit den Polen los? Porträt einer widersprüchlichen Nation” (2018) and “Nichts kommt zweimal vor. Wisława Szymborska – eine Biographie” (2023).
